Broadly the Directorate of Export Promotion and Marketing has been set up to promote export of goods from the State of Odisha and to provide marketing assistance to SSI Units of the State by concluding rate contract for purchases by Government Departments and Public Sector Undertaking located in Odisha.

  To implement the policy of the State Government for Departments and Agencies under the control of the State Goverment to purchase their requirements of store items from industries located inside the State as per the Industrial Policy of Goverment in order to provide marketing support to SSI units for purchase of store items from industries located inside the State having EPM Certification.

To upgarde the testing laboratories to the Centre of Excellence and to provide testing facilities of products of MSMEs conforming to National/International standards, DEPM issues quality certificates through its six laboratories located at Cuttack, Rourkela, Angul, Berhampur, Bolangir, and Balasore.

 To take Odisha to the league of the top five exporting States of India.
 To Provide the highest level of testing services at all times to its customers in an indiscriminating manner.
 To provide quality assurance to the products of MSMEs so as to meet the requirements of National and International standards of their accaptability in global market.
 To maintain Quality System as per National Accreditation Board for Testing Laboratories(NABL) & ISO/IEC-17025 criteria and guidelines.
 To conclude rate contracts with the local MSEs to participate in the Government purchase.
